RED BALLOON FLOATS UP TO MILTON
Red Balloon educational charity is taking nearly 4,700 sq ft of offices at the former Cambridge News HQ at Milton on the north side of Cambridge.
Mark Robinson of the letting agents Robinson Layer is celebrating the near completion of the marketing programme to let this 17,382 sq ft complex. He said: “Having advised on the complete refurbishment of the two floors of space to bring it bang up to date, and we now have just one office suite of 1,500 sq ft available at a rent of only £19.50 per ft per annum exclusive.
“The major occupier will be the accountancy firm PEM with some 7,000 sq ft. They were joined by Azuri Technologies which took just over 4,000 sq ft. In addition to the offices, nearly 2,600 sq ft in a separate warehouse at the rear of the site has been let to Autoglass for a regional depot. So in just about 12 months we have created a new business centre just off the A14.”
Red Balloon supports young people who self-exclude from school and are missing education because of bullying or other trauma. It provides an academic and therapeutic programme to enable students to get back on track and reconnect with society. Set up Cambridge in 1996, Red Balloon now has a presence in Cambridge, Norwich, North West London (in Harrow) and Reading, with a satellite centre in Braintree.
It is moving from its existing location at Chesterton Mill, French's Road due to redevelopment of the site. The move to Milton will allow the charity to expand its on-line learning services.
