UNIQUE WINE MERCHANTS TAKE MITCHAM’S CORNER SHOP
"Thirsty" is the name of the unique wine merchants taking a prominent shop on Chesterton Road, which was formerly a Threshers wine merchant outlet.
A new venture by two well-established wine experts, Sam Owens and Matthew Boucher, they plan to get customers involved right in the heart of their business. As Sam explained: “This will include tastings with invited customers to help choose new wines for the range, even inviting some of them to take part in blending our own range of wines from France and in future Italy. We will also be the first place in East Anglia to have a fancy new bit of kit called a ’counter-pressure beer-filling system’ - a means of offering four craft beers into refillable 2-litre bottles (called 'growlers') that will keep the beer brewery-fresh for up to two months”.
They also hope to plug into the impending redevelopment of Mitcham“s Corner and the affluent De Freville area.
The letting was handled by Jonathan Lager, partner at Robinson Layer, who said: “The shop unit had been empty for several years until we were appointed this year to market it, but within a couple of months we received a lot of interest and attracted this new tenant.”
