ARCHITECTS EXPAND INTO COURTYARD OFFICES
Neubau Architecture is gaining a significant number of major development schemes here and abroad. To handle its expansion, it is taking additional office space at Sturton Courtyard, in the city centre.
Mark Robinson of the agents Robinson Layer said: “Neubau have been tenants at Sturton Courtyard and are now taking a unit of 290 sq ft. The Courtyard has been a popular location for a wide range of businesses and services – many of which tend to expand into bigger premises here as and when needed.”
Alexander Giarlis of Neubau said; “We are an architectural studio that engages with architectural design, research and urbanism. We prefer to focus on work that addresses either the public or large groups of end users and across a diverse range of typologies.
“Our largest recent scheme is Tower Station in North London, a sizeable residential development for 28 units for which we achieved planning permission. In Cambridge we have recently completed the new Porters' Lodge for Hughes Hall.”
The former dairy in Sturton Street was acquired some ten years ago by a private client of Robinson Layer originally wanting to redevelop it as residential. An unexpected consequence, said Mark Robinson, was that while residential use wasn’t viable, proactive management has made it a popular and highly successful courtyard office scheme.
Through a programme of progressive refurbishment of the 15 unit office suites, the Courtyard has attracted a wide range of organisations, from an international conference firm and a couple of cutting edge hi tech innovators to a leading orchestra and global current affairs publisher.
Leases are flexible at Sturton Courtyard, allowing tenants to adapt and grow. Its location at the Mill Road end of Sturton Street puts it close to local shops and amenities, and within walking distance of the mainline station.
