About Us

Mark has always worked in commercial property in Cambridge, starting his surveying career in 1978 at the University of Cambridge’s Estates Department, before working for a number of Cambridge firms including Gray Cook & Partners, Januarys and Herring Son & Daw. He co-founded Sumpster Robinson Associates in 1992, which subsequently merged with a regional practice, moving on to establish Robinson Property Consultants in 2002, merging with Layer Associates in 2011.

Having done just about everything commercial in a long and varied career, Mark now focuses on heading up the firm’s expanding property management operations and managing the business, leaving it to his younger colleagues to develop the agency and professional sides of the practice. He is motivated in his new role and excited to see the business gain strength with the injection of youthful vigour!

He has many interests outside work, is an active Rotarian over more than 30 years, and he and his wife seem to be travelling more around the world trying to keep up with their two sons and their wives.

Steve is a partner at Robinson Layer following 20 years of working in the Greater Cambridge commercial property market for a of mix of national, regional and small niche organisations.

Steve is a Chartered Surveyor with a Business & Management degree from the Lord Ashcroft International Business School at Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge. He is an experienced property consultant having advised a broad range of private and institutional clients on all aspects of acquiring and disposing of commercial property across the office, industrial, retail, R&D and educational sectors.

Steve has enjoyed an active involvement in the development, marketing, and promotion of many of the major business, science/research and industrial parks in the Cambridge area as well as a number of notable investment transactions.

Outside of work, he enjoys all sports especially football (supporting Tottenham Hotspur – hence the hair loss), playing golf and watching cricket. He also enjoys spending time with friends and family, music, film and travel.

Nick is a Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer with over 20 years’ experience in the private sector, 18 years of which have been in Cambridge with national practices Carter Jonas and Lambert Smith Hampton.

Nick specialises in the valuation of commercial property and development land and has considerable experience in Cambridge and across the wider East of England region having provided valuation advice on a number of high profile developments in recent years including Brookgate’s CB1 development and Homes England’s new town of Northstowe.

Acting for a range of private and public sector clients, Nick takes the time to fully understand the client’s objectives and adopts a commercial, client focused, approach.

Away from work Nick enjoys time with family, watching almost any sport and cooking on his Big Green Egg!
